According to my new Jeeps owners manual they state that you should avoid polishing the paint.I assume they mean a machine like the Porta Cable# 7424.I have this machine and now I think that no polisher is safe to use on a Jeep factory paint job

.Is the factory paint on Jeeps thin or easily removed?

You should only polish paint that needs it. Paint that is oxidized, swirled or neglected will need polishing to restore the shine, regardless of automaker or owner's manual statements. I think the manual is referring more to using aggressive polishes than certain types of machines.

Used properly, a PC7424 is a safe and effective machine. I've been using one for years without problems. The 7424 is about the easiest D/A polisher to use. A little practice with it will have you detailing like a pro.

If your Jeep paint is like new, you can safely use the 7424 with a wax or sealant and get excellent results.
