Changed the oil in the Jeep Cherokee today, still using the Mopar Max Pro Oil, the gallon jug was a golden honey color but the two quarts were a dark copper color, happy with the Mopar oil but I am thinking of changing to the Amsoil XL to get down to two oil changes per year (I need the stinking starburst symbol), I still enjoy changing oil but I am getting older, I have considered PP, QS Torque Power & Mobil 1 but Amsoil is the only one that stands buy mileage and I use Amsoil Severe Gear and have been very impressed with it.

The XL stuff would do well for you. I find that the 4.0's like the 10W40 grade the best. The 10W40 is just heavy enough to take care the the wrist pin rattle they have when cold.

4.0 Jeeps like the older Ford 4.9 six like a heavier oil. Consider running a 15w-40 or since you live in MI a synthetic 5w-40. These oils, however, are not "energy conserving."

Hmmmmmmm. Heaver than recomeded oil? My GC 4.0 was running great at 197,000 miles running 5w&10w30 Mobil 1 + PureOne or OEM oil filter during a 6-7,000 mile OCI. Maybe a 5w40 if I had lots of miles on the engine.
