i dont think so

if you look closely the a port for the oil pressure sender is in the adapter housing

FWIW ive had 2 4.0's one had the adapter and one had the filter right on the block. the FL1A works fine on both

My filter screws right to the block. I don't know if there's a "adapter" within the mounting pad though. For curiosities sake, I'll look the next time I change the oil.
