Hello,
I have a Jaguar S-type R model year 2003, with 65k on the clock. It is a supercharged 4.2 V8. The manual suggests to use 5w-30, Api SL, ILSAC GF-3 and Wss-M2C913-B spec'd conventional oil for 10k miles change interval.
I have been using Mobil1 5W-30 for the past 45k miles at an interval of 5k miles. As soon as I switched to M1 from GTX the car started to burn oil at a rate of about 1 quart per 5k miles. I never gave this much thought and chucked it off as an engine characteristic.
I want to try a new oil and am debating between PP, Syntec and Mobil 0w-30 Advanced Fuel Economy. The Syntec 0w-30 made in germany is not speced at all for fords should i consider it?
I will stick to the 30 weight due to the supercharger unless I hear otherwise. What do you guys suggest for this application? Also I am in the north east, so we see some low temps, especially recently ~15s for the past weeks everytime I get in the car.
Thanks for your time.
