It’s the 1990’s: what motor oil and grade are you using?

My Great grandad worked in the Oklahoma oil patch in the 50s and was and always had P66 10w40 in cans and later in his life switched to Pennzoil right around the time of plastic bottles and always had 30wt and 10w40 for the 1993 Chevy C1500

Dad's dad was a Mack Diesel Mechanic and nothing but Mystik everything grease all the way up to 15w50 he last drove a 1996 C1500

Mom's dad was a painter and drove Dodge pickups ONLY and always had GTX by the cases 10w30

Dad Autozone house brand since it was Costal then Superflo then Orange Autozone Label up to current STP mostly Chevy SUVs

Me I started driving in 1992 other than some PJ1 or Maxima for dirtbikes i started out with Pennzoil 10w30 mostly and Mystik 15w40 for the Powerstrokes

Currently mainly Pennzoil PYB and Platinum as well as Euro in the wife's MB

Well, if I can look back to the '50s I remember Kendall, the 2,000 mile oil. At that time going so far between OCIs wasn't well thought of. My first car was a '54 Chevrolet Belair (not sure of spelling) and I wanted the best for it.

Always 10W-30
Always Supertech oil or anything on sale that was close in price.
Always used either an AC Delco or STP filter.

Always changed the oil every 3k, which was about once every six weeks.

My cost back then was $5. Just under $10 in today's money.

My daily driver then, a red 1994 Toyota Camry Coupe with the four-cylinder, is still on the road today.
