What weight oil do you use in winter?

0W-20 year around in both Impreza's and CRV with the exception of some VRP I have in 5W-20.

5w because I always use it. If I lived way up north I'd probably use 0w

A COLD night here is 15f
An average January night here is 30ish

0W-30 year round in both my vehicles. Mobil1 ESP in the Grand Cherokee and HPL Euro in the GTI. Nice to hear completely normal sounding cold starts from both in the recent-10F mornings

This is for our Canadian friends too. I’m using Delvac 1 5w40 in one focus and M1 0w30 in the spare 09’ Focus. The lady’s daughter now has M1 0w40 in it with prime guard filter.


Dad used to use 15w40 in his stuff even in winter. Not everything was garaged either.

My current fill is 0w-40 Royal Purple. Prior I used a lot of Mobil 1 0w-40.
This is in various Nissan V6s and V8s
