Don't you get the same effect by just putting the original nut back on and flush with the top of the stud, then whacking with the hammer as shown?

The left one on my 6 year old Subaru was awful to remove without it. Even with heat it was a quarter turn at a time, then reheat again.Thanks. I can’t say I’ve ever had an issue doing that. Even on older cars that have seen weather for decades. I always figured that “seized tie rods” was mostly a shop moneymaking trick.
