Just curious. I think it may be fine, but thought I'd ask the experts. TIA!

In transit (I assume). The box was basically trash, shipped UPS in one of the blue-and-white plastic bubble mailers. Yet they'll send a roll of bubble wrap in a giant box. Haha

Yeah, it's a hit or miss on how things arrive. When I shipped via UPS & FedEx, FedEx was the worst for damage. That was 17+ years ago though so not sure how it's changed.

Not if it uses a leaf spring. I cut open a filter like this once and the cartridge inside was "loose" and would definitely not be filtering properly.

A dent on the side would probably have no effect. A dent on the end is suspect.

I would use it. I have removed filters with a small dent like yours dented by debris on rural gravel roads. They apparently caused no apparent damage. Even if the dent caused improper/failed filtering and the oil pressure was not affected I doubt any engine damage would occur over 5-7 thousand miles.

Slight concave dimple dent you could get away with but those lined crease dents are a no go and as mentioned, weak points.
