Is this damage or from manufacturing

I just received this Fram Ultra from Amazon and noticed two identical divots with creases. One on the bottom (pictured) and a similar one on the side. Almost looks like it could have been from the stamping process.

Anyone who has used Fram ultras before know if this is typical or is this damage? Asking because of that Wix video where the creased oil filter cracks and vomits CGI motor oil everywhere.

That's definitely damage. I like Fram, and use them all the time (I currently have an Orange Can of Deliciousness on my Accord), but I wish their cans weren't so thin.

Definitely damage, and unfortunately seems to be common lately with a lot of the filters I buy (all different brands) from Amazon. I'm not sure why, but it sure is quite annoying.

Who knows how it got there, could have happened anywhere along the line from it's creation to your hands. Send it back to Amazon for a refund or replacement. First time I've seen a dent like that in any filter posted here. Not common or normal, so it's not part of the manufacturing process.

Luckily it was an easy replacement process from Amazon. They just had me chuck the old one. Thanks, all.

That’s shipping related-I’ve gotten eBay 6 packs of Ultras where HALF of them were worse than that, BC the seller stuffed them in a Priority Mail box with no shipping material! The Ultra has an incredibly weak can, they cannot take any abuse.

Yep, looks like the base seam on one can bashed against the can on the another can.

Maybe from manufacturing the crimping die missed on the 1st shot. I would believe it’s still usable I’m sure a lube shop would use it without hesitation.

It's definitely still usable, but doesn't mean it isn't damaged. I'd be looking for Amazon to correct it.
