Is the Motorcraft FL-1A still a good filter?

I changed oil in a friend's 4.7 Dakota last weekend and used this filter and 10w30 SN Pennzoil. I have never used this particular filter before and was wondering if I made a decent choice. The filter was only $3.47+tax at Wal Mart.

My '98 Mustang GT 4.6L sure likes 'em! I get a startup rattle with all the others I've tried.

SWSportsman, was that pic taken on the Blue Ridge Parkway? My wife and I were in NC back in September and drove it from Asheville to Blowing Rock...it was beautiful and a lot of fun.

Too funny.. a friend had an old 84 Dodge van, 318 motor.
She was going on a 800mile trip and stopped by to have me check fluids. the oil was super dirty and she of course showed up at 7pm and was leaving as soon as I was done. So I said, let me at least change the oil filter, all I had was a motorcraft FL-1A.
It fit perfectly of course, and was I topped the oil off.
She left and came back a week later with no problems.
her husband, who wouldn't check the fluids, and didn't want her to go (because he didn't want to) decided to change the oil on it.
So he sees the motorcraft filter and yells at her then proceeds to call me to lecture me about putting Ford parts on a Dodge.
What an idiot. I'm glad she divorced him.

I've been using the MC FL1-A on my 5.7 Hemi for years with great results. I also use MC 5W-20. Ford products seem to work fine in my Dodge!
