It will still be inside your engine after 12,000 miles yes.
I think venturing into extended drain is basically uncharted waters for Pennzoil Platinum.
We have a lone report on the UOA forum where PP was run for 9.3K miles.
While 12K is by no means a harsh OCI interval for a full synthetic GF-4 motor oil, I'd suggest taking it 8K-10K first, and verifying with a UOA just to be sure that everything is still trending OK.

Depends on what's going on inside your engine. If it's dirty & such long intervals are unchartered waters for you, then get it tested at 7K - while still leaving the rest in.
If you've done long intervals before with success, then the Platinum ranks right up there with other top-tier group IV/V oils.
We cannot see inside your engine - plus you never mentioned if you did long intervals before with this engine and/or what were the UOA results when you did.

Vehicle is a 94 Escort wagon with the 1.9L.

I would go as long as you did using the mobil. That motor doesnt put alot of stress on the oil.
Anyone besides me get a postcard from Pep Boys saying that I had failed to comply with the rebate stipulations? I called the number on the card and they determined that everything was OK. They said there must be something wrong with the system so that it is kicking many out when it shouldn't.
I hate the hassle of rebates.
Go to the rebate forums...lots of folks had some issues with their 15 dollar reabte...took me a phone call to set it straight

I just don't buy stuff w/rebates. That's how people like me ..who are normally mild mannered and socially functional, remain on the favorable side of postal.

Oh, my. Saw the Pep Boys rebate. Now, I've got a PP stash to match my GC stash.
I'm thinking 15K or 1-yr (whichever comes first) in a VW 2.0, with a Purolator PureOne PL20252 filter...do you folks think this is possible? But 10K does seem more reasonable...
That's a good point. I've never bought oil using rebates, but I've had companies use any possible excuse they could to deny a rebate on other stuff such as software, beer and electronics, so I'm not surprised and I usually don't bother...quote:

But two bucks a quart is a great deal for syn, and a $15 rebate is worth the effort...
And you can always easily complain online to the FTC if you think they're being obstinate in order to deny rebates, which has a certain satisfaction all its own...
MW, I'd stick to 10/12 thousand, unless you're backing it up with a UOA.

Especially when Subaru recommends 3750 OCI's on this engine. I get free oil changes, and I let the Mobil 5000 stay in several thousand miles before changing it. BUT, I think this next change, I'm taking my own Pennzoil Platinum and making sure they put it in. THEN I'll let it go 7500 miles before the next change.

Do you all think the new 0w-20 PP would be fine for 10k in my '01 Civic?
Okay mods, time to add this one to the list. I consider myself a veteran BITOGer and I had no idea what PP was. Well, I had an idea, but it had nothing to do with lubrication.
Are you sure about that?
Not sure about the '01 Civic with 0w20, but just out of curiosity, have you been able to find 0w20 PP somewhere?
