Got my oil change this morning Castrol Full Syn 10w-30
2003 AP1 S2000 F20C, used synthetic her whole life
Washed my car, and went to go vacumn, ping heard the drain plug let go.
I was going about 20mph engine under very light load, drove about 500ft and immediately pulled over shut the engine down. Got out engine oil was pouring out from below, they didn't tighten the bolt down! The engine was off and oil was still coming out of the engine.
Long story short, oil replaced/filter have documentation stating what happened from dealership and are warrantying my engine for 3000 miles in case something happened.
1. Drove 500 ft , no oil light came on, shut engine down.
2. Engine is running perfect with new oil in, no weird noises our rough vibrations.
My friend who races his S2000 at TWS and other tracks said an engine will go alot further without oil then it will without water, and he wouldn't worry at all cause the synthetic coats the surfaces real well, and there was still plenty of oil in the engine.
What do you guys think console me, the car runs fine now and I beat the **** out of it, I assume if something was going to let go it would have on my 30 mile drive home, I have heard of worse things happening to a Honda motor and they live long lives.
I drove the car very hard today 9000rpms, oil temperatures fine, no weird noises, no vibrations, all is well.
