Is" Mowing The Lawn" A Mans Job ?

My Wife has stated that if something happened to me, she would either kill the entire lawn or sale the house and move back to Mesa, AZ and have a natural “desert landscape“ yard again. She hates yard work.

I ask myself which would be more work, mowing myself or letting someone else get on the riding mower and running into things that I have to fix. ;)
To be fair we have a lot of obstacles and the closer you mow around them, the less time(s) spent weed wacking.

As far as the yard goes, I do all the lawn stuff, my wife does all the flower beds and garden stuff (except for spring roto-tilling). Works for us.

As a motorcyclist, I hope you aren't really blowing fresh grass clippings on the road.
That is pretty much the SOP in my county, nobody gives a shoot.. They wait till that big green grass gets thick and throw it out there.
They also do not care if a car is going by, they keep rolling.
My windshield was hit by some rich dimwit when he was mowing towards the road. He argued that I was being ridiculous and that's what insurance is for.
When I mow my lawn towards the road even if the grass doesn't reach, I stop when anyone is going by.

Is "Mowing The Lawn" a Mans job or does everyone in your household do it. Both of my neighbors wives mow theres.
No.

Mrs. Astro handles yard work, including mowing, most of the time.

That’s why we just got a cordless Makita mower. No electric cord. No gasoline. No maintenance. She lowers the safety handle and it’s running.

My wife *can* mow the lawn but I do it because I like how it comes out. She doesn't do a pattern that compliments the natural contours of the land. She also goes "off roading" and hits rocks and stumps and stuff that I deliberately don't mow, because they're rocks and stumps.

When I was a kid my mom rode the riding mower and my dad did the edging with what is now a cool, sought-after 2-stroke lawn boy. One Mother's Day when I was 13-14 my dad voluntold me for riding mower duty then liked it so much the job was "mine."

Neighbors split theirs 50/50 usually
I like to do mine I offer the wife the push trimming job if she wants to help.
(about 10min with self propelled mower)
her tractor driving(316 deere hydro transmission) is um. terrible. she blows grass on uncut grass doesnt drive straight lines etc.
she also missed some little slices.
Then she askes how she did.. how do I reply :poop: :censored:

If it saves you from doing it for a week, it's perfect.

The people who blows debris in the road for years are the first ones on the news. When the storm drain is full and the neghorhood floods, crying "how can the city let this happen?"

My wife has no inclination.

She doesn't help me with yard work, I don't help her when she wants to paint a room a different color. Fair trade IMO.
This sounds exactly like the agreement my wife and I have. She hates yard work, but I love mowing and landscaping. I hate painting, but she enjoys it as well as interior decorating.
It all works out in the end because the yard is nice and we enjoy being out in it and the inside of my house is nice and we enjoy being in there as well. If you've got to spend time in it, might as well enjoy it. :sneaky: 🍻

I believe that his post says that he's blowing it off the driveway AND the road, not onto the road. We have a lot of people around here that blow it straight onto the road and it aggravates the he** out of me.
I understand your reasoning as it creates an unnecessary road hazard for you, but it creates problems for windshields, tires, and it's just downright unsightly. Driving by in a car, they just keep on going and blowing without a care in the world about throwing a rock out at your vehicle or blowing whatever onto the road to be run over.
I mow in away from the road, but if someone is driving by, I stop until they pass. The same thing with weed-eating out by the road, if someone is going by, I stop until they pass. Common courtesy seems to be lacking in a lot of people.

My wife LOVES mowing the yard, but she’s afraid of our new zero turn lol… she said maybe next year when she’s not pregnant she’ll try it. But I love the new zero turn so maybe not 🤔

I’d say it’s either. I will only mow with a riding mower though. My back hurts enough so I choose not to push mow. Make someone else do that lol. We have all mowed at my house. I prefer paying someone to do it but I will do at least part of it. Plus our push mower will take you for a spin lol. If you squeeze the handle all the way you won’t be able to control it.
