looking for a zero turn or lawn tractor for my son

..Neighbor got a ZT1 42" CubCadet a couple years ago and seems like a perfect mower for 1-2 acre lots...
A neighborhood young man mowed my 1 acre yard at my old house with a CC ZT1 from 2020-2021. The mower looked great and did a fantastic job. I'm not sure what blades he ran, but they chopped up the grass clippings to almost nothing and he didn't bag (high lift blades?).

My local Gravely dealer currently has some fairly good deals on what look to be very well made machines. OP might check Gravely out if that is an option.

I’m also in DFW.

Spent some time earlier this year shopping for a ZTM…FB Marletplace has a ton of sellers, I bought a pristine Toro 50” Timecutter with MyRide suspension, only had 60 hours on it.

I would stick to the big brands, they’re pretty comparable. If you buy new, I would look at a dealer versus big-box store. They’ll service what they sell and you’ll have a much greater selection to choose from.

And racer12306’s comment about serviceable hydros is sound advice.

I'll be heading to Dallas in a few weeks so I compiled a list of machines I hope we can get to see. The majority (maybe all) have Kawasaki motors so that's good. The hydros are all over the place. Several have non serviceable ZT 2200. A couple have ZT2800 which are serviceable and 1 or 2 other make and models. All have fabricated decks. So, in no particular order: 1) Bad Boy Rambler and Magnum, 2) Cub Cadet ultima Z2 (budget option), 3) Toro Timecutter Max, 4) Ariens Ikon, and 5) Gravely ZT. Most are comfortably under our the 5K budget but, a couple are taxing it. Hopefully we can find some sales or dealers who can make us an offer we can't refuse . Thanks for the replies and suggestions.
