A good reason to upgrade would be crash standards.
Stuff built the last 5 years or so and newer is so much safer, especially side air bags and front offset crash structure upgrades.

Yes-your points are well made and can't be argued.

The improvements are true, but I think driver skill and training has a far greater impact on the overall outcome. Better drivers won’t need to rely on those safety nets to begin with. The key is to learn how to avoid those situations than to become reliant on those things.

You have certainly been giving a lot of advice for someone who has not owned a car.
Not really. I hardly give advice, and when I do, I make sure I'm confident in it. That's irrelevant.

To a degree, but, I'll take the extra protection in newer vehicles, for me and my family.
It's worth the peace of mind imo.

I would hope you are confident about what you say.

However, that doesn't mean others should trust simply because you are confident.

After all, do you trust everyone who posts here?

True. But what price is safety? My only reason for buying new these days is safety, given how badly ppl drive ,esp in Phila . All my “old” cars are perfect in every way but for safety. Every time I get in to drive, I ask myself “will I get hit today ?” Giant pups, especially.
Oh yeah, that's a perspective i did not see

The passive aggressive retorts on this forum are getting old. See alot of the same dudes with the same snarky shots. Sometimes it is like reading facebook comments. To the grown men picking on the individual for not owning a car but participating in discussion on a public forum……..go change your oil

It’s not like I’m making up stories . Most of my posts are from my own threads, which are seeking advice. Or posts about BMWs. Go through all of my posts

It doesn't change my point.

I'm not saying you are right or not. I'm simply saying I would hope someone is confident in what they are saying. If not, perhaps they shouldn't say it. However, just because someone is confident in their words doesn't mean they are true.

Thinking of a historic example not related to this discussion or anyone here, Neville Chamberlain was confident that he had achieved "Peace in our time..." https://eudocs.lib.byu.edu/index.ph...ood friends, for the,get a nice quiet sleep."

Turns out, just because he was confident didn't make it true.

As another political leader once said, "Trust, but verify."
