iPhones, Face Recognition and Apple Wallet

I have an M1 MacBook Air and it works pretty consistently. I actually was thinking about getting a print reader for my Mac desktop.
If I ever did have a problem and I can’t remember, but I think I redid the fingerprint set up
I remember that was a setting on Android (in "Developer settings", as I recall). I think on iOS you just have to disable screen timeout/locking. Apps can override this though, for example, all GPS map apps will.
FWIW, my Face ID works fine while driving with the phone on a windshield mount (approx 15" away from my face).
Positioning it on the dash, even if it blocks a little, is better than your current location. You have to look down and away from the road to see your phone. Mine is location as low as possible on the windshield and in the "V" shape between my A pillar and instrument cluster shroud.

As an aside, I found that Face ID is better at putting glasses on than taking them off. I first tried Face ID with glasses on and it had difficulty recognising me when my glasses were off. I then set up Face ID with my glasses off and now it recognises me whether I am wearing glasses or not
Maybe it's my thumb. Too dry or something.
That might be your problem, use the finger next to your thumb. Thumbprint maybe too large for a reader?
ps. I am most likely wrong, just a guess on my part, I see nothing in Apple about it
I shifted the phone holder to bring the phone closer to my face and now the phone recognizes me easily, without having to lean over
The screen won’t shut off till you press the power button or it runs out of power.
Yes, tried it for a day and it was running my phone battery down, I switched back to 2 minute shut down.
So you're not powering the phone while in the vehicle?
No. What am I missing by keeping my phone off? I turn my phone on if I need to send a text or make a call, via Siri.
I thought you were using Google Maps in the car, that was the whole point of the thread.
I only need Google Maps when I am in unfamiliar territory, which is not very often. I turn on Google Maps when I need it and, with the phone not close to my face, it would not unlock. It does now after I shifted the mount.
