Note: This is not for CarPlay. It's just normal bluetooth connection. CarPlay may not behave this way.
What is happening is that when you play music from your phone using the bluetooth connection, you shut off your car without changing the source, the next time you get into the car the music will resume.
This feature is annoying and I'm not sure how it is handled by other makes, but with Toyota there is no way to turn it off.
I would like my phone to still connect to bluetooth, but without auto starting the music playback. I wan to control this by myself.
After some googling there doesn't appear to be a solution, at least for iPhones.
I thought to give the iOS Shortcuts a try. And I'm happy to report it works. Granted I had to give the shortcut automation a 1 second delay, other radios may need 2 or 3 seconds, so you get a short burst and then the music stops. I can live with that. Otherwise you're scrambling to pause it either on the phone or the radio screen which isn't too responsive.
Here is the shortcut logic and you pair it to when the device connects to Bluetooth and you have to select your car's radio.
Also make sure the Automation is set to "Run Immediately", otherwise it will wait for your prompt.
If there is anyone with more knowledge on the Shortcuts tool that can manage to remove the time delay, please share it with us.
