In before the lock?

Anyway, this reminds me of the movie Predestination or the short story by Robert A Heinlein called All You Zombies.

I don't really want to spoil it for those who haven't read/seen it, but the main character is one of those mentioned in the OP's post and it's a fun time travel story.

For an interesting relevant discussion of some of the ramifications of this, check out the wikipedia article on gender verification in sports

The Dutch sprinter Foekje Dillema was expelled from the 1950 national team after she refused a mandatory sex test in July 1950; later investigations revealed a Y-chromosome in her body cells, and the analysis showed that she probably was a 46,XX/46,XY mosaic female.

My thought also.

I first came across this in a story back in the 90s of a married couple that was trying to conceive. They'd tried everything and after exhausting just about all the tricks known to science the doctors performed genetic tests. Turns out the woman (who was perfectly normal in all respects, including menstruation) has some sort of genetic combination that was male, and her body simply did not notice androgen. Androgen is responsible for converting the fetus from female to male in the womb (converting is not the correct term here, so don't nit pick I am not a scientist). So her body had never made the transition to male, as it would normally would have, so was unable to become pregnant. Last I heard they were still married, and had happily adopted some children.

Androgen insensitivity syndrome, or AIS, is the name of this condition.

Probably just someone who feels the regressive leftism isn't present enough on BITOG.

Wasn't aware there was an official name, don't recall them mentioning it in the article....guess it's been named since the 90s.
