Installed a filter minder

I installed a filter minder on my 1999 dodge Dakota 5.2L. Its been on there for about for 6,000mi now. The lowest reading is 10'' H2O.
Still no reading.
Usually about once a week I have to floor it to pass some slow poke taking the engine to 5,000 to 5,500rpm.
I figure I'll change let it trip the 10'' of H2O mark once, I'll reset it and if it trips 10'' again then I'll replace it. Or when it starts to rip. On the last air filter the foam started to rip so I replaced it, I check it during oil changes. I don't know how long the last one was in there, it came with the truck and was a fram. It also gave no filter minder reading.
I'm fabulously dusty new Mexico how long do you think it will take to give a reading, if the foam doesn't rip again?

There are too many variables to your particular situation for anyone to make any 'time based' guess.

Holy cow! It’s definitely a good idea to have one there then it sounds like.

Just checked it's actually been on there 7,000 miles now and no filter minder movement.

Coming up on 8,000 miles now, still no reading. I'm thinking blow it off with compressed air and keep running it till the foam rips again or it just starts looking real dirty.

thats what I do.. Air Filter life depends on environment more than anything else. do a visual inspection every 6 months or so, when it finally gets to looking something like the filter below, it is time to replace... this one is at about 35000 miles from my Ram

The fewer things that have batteries, electronics and lights the better.

I know what you mean, but if you want an accurate read with a restriction gauge, this will be far more accurate tool than the old school gauges that pop prematurely. It's just wired into power for key-on, so not a big deal.

I assume it would too... but a Fram air filter only costs 20 bucks at Wallieworld so its a no brainer to replace it once in awhile instead of waiting.. same mentality as trying to do oil analysis and extending drain intervals versus just changing the oil for s person like me... I'm never going to wear this truck out, but I might as well do some routine maintenance a couple times a year even though I know I could go longer. ...

my buddy drives the same type truck as me, he pulls a 45 foot car hauler with his all the time( it his business) and he replaces the air filter when the dash warning tells him it is clogged.. I've never asked him how far they go but I believe it is considerably more than 30,000 miles.

I have found that air cleaners stay clean as a watch until the filter gets really dirty, like packed with dirt, then dirt starts appearing on the clean side of the intake.

Is the difference reflective of diesel vs gasoline applications?
The wording (and delivery) @ 2:02 is needlessly vague.

What year model was the Ram in your test ? I have a 22’ model and the 19+ models are really picky about the air filters. The used one you show looks like the one I took out of mine at 6278 miles. The new AF27684 I installed still looks great at 15.5k miles but you really can’t tell anything about a filter by looks alone. I’m a firm believer in the filter minders. We ran some in class 8 trucks for over 400k miles and they were still good by the filter minder. You can’t buy a $20 replacement for those filters.

I tested my junk yard filter minder, it locks in the first click on the scale at about 11 to 12 inches of water. That's good enough for me.

Using this filter minder on my previous 2006 Toyota Matrix, it took 43,000 miles to reach 11" on a WOT pull.

At 9,000 miles now. Did a few wide open throttle pulls and nothing.
