Input on Cartridge Filters

2011 Jetta 2.5. I'm running 6-7.5k OCI now on GC. I have access to Fram, STP, and Mobil 1 filters. Like the Mobil 1 best, but they are a bit of a waste for 6-7.5k changes. When I go back to Mobil 1 0w40 I'll use them, but anyone think the Fram or STP is up to the challenge of this shorter OCI?

I'm sure it will be fine. I've been using a SuperTech cartridge filter on my Mazda3. The Super Tech looks more robust than the Fram version, however I would use both. The Super Tech filter cost less than <$3.

What length OCI?

6k-7k miles OCI or one year.

I currently have OE, P1 and Mobil 1 filters on my shelf for my Speed3. I've taken them out and compared them side by side. It is very difficult to tell them apart and my thought was they may have been made on the same production line.

If you worry about this kind of thing, just do a google search for VW parts and buy a case of the OEs. You'll sleep better.

BTW, I wouldn't consider 6-7000 miles a short OC. That's double what we were asking the oil and filter to do just a few short years ago. I've used Fram off and on through the years and never had a problem but that was with 3-4000 OCIs.
