The wireless-entry key fob for my 2007 Kia Optima quit working. I purchased one on e-bay. No programming instructions were included. Everyone tells me this is a job for a car dealer or automotive locksmith. I would rather save the $25-35 and program it myself. I have an extensive background in electronics and computers (including programming). It shuldn't be that hard with the instructions in hand. THANKS for any help that can be provided. Indy_Bill

Have no experience with Kia but with most makes this is covered in your owners manual.

I think your friends may be correct as the few searches i did mention it requires a dealership scan tool

You can have all the electronic experience in the world but if the car requires a dealer scan tool to program the fob - you gotta pay.

To "The_Eric" ---- THANKS !

The Kia Tech Info site had everything I needed. The new fob is programmed and working fine. The Kia site is a great resource. I'm sure I will use it often.
