"Platinum also announced that an advanced new engine oil containing its low phosphorous additive TechroBond has passed a series of the demanding American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) performance tests, most recently the Sequence IVA. The tests are required by the major automakers to assure satisfactory engine life and performance.

The unique new engine oil has passed several ASTM tests, including Sequence IVA, TEOST MHT-4, TEOST 33C, AND ROBO. These strict engine oil standards were established by the major automotive manufacturers, including representatives from General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Daimler/Chrysler and the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association.

"Passing the engine tests and securing additional financing are major milestones in our program to field a very competitive commercial product," Jaeger said.

R.T. Vanderbilt Company, Inc. (RTV) of Norwalk, Connecticut (http://www.rtvanderbilt.com) and Platinum developed the innovative engine oil that contains Platinum's TechroBond(R) and RTV's high-performance MOLYVAN(R) and VANLUBE(R) antioxidants, friction modifiers, and anti-wear additives.

The oil's extremely low level of phosphorous can greatly reduce the contamination of engine emission control systems, extending the life of catalytic converters while protecting against engine wear, oxidation and corrosion.

Platinum Research Organization, Inc. of Dallas, Texas (http://www.techrobond.com) designs, develops and commercializes patented, high performance additives for lubricants and coatings. The company's proprietary additive, TechroBond(R), offers substantial economic, performance and environmental advantages over those now used. In engine oils, TechroBond will extend the life of catalytic converters thereby reducing harmful emissions; in industrial greases, it increases the anti-wear performance while reducing their cost; and in coatings and paints, TechroBond may replace environmentally hazardous materials. Platinum's formulations and processes are protected by a series of U.S. patents, patent applications, continuation-in- part applications and trade secrets.

R.T. Vanderbilt Company Inc., headquartered in Norwalk, Connecticut, is a manufacturer and distributor of chemicals and minerals serving a diverse set of markets throughout the world. Founded in 1916, the company recently celebrated its 90th anniversary.

Trademarks: TechroBond(R) is a trademark of Platinum Research Organization, Inc. VANLUBE (R) and MOLYVAN(R) are registered trademarks of R. T. Vanderbilt Company, Inc. All other trademarks are the properties of their respective owners.

INTRODUCTION OF VANLUBE® BHC
BY R.T. VANDERBILT COMPANY, INC.

R.T. Vanderbilt Company, Inc. is pleased to announce that it is beginning global sales of VANLUBE BHC (a liquid hindered phenolic antioxidant, known chemically as butylated hydrohydroxy cinnamate) to the lubricant industry. The product will be custom-manufactured to R.T. Vanderbilt Company’s specification by Songwon Industrial Company, Ltd. through an agreement with Songwon International Americas, Inc.

"The addition of VANLUBE BHC expands our current antioxidant offerings to the lubricant industry. We believe that this addition, coupled with our technical and application expertise, will give us a leadership position as an antioxidant supplier," according to Steve Donnelly, Global Business Manager of Vanderbilt’s Petroleum Department. "We look forward to providing our customers with improved value in support of their lubricant formulations."

"Other than the classic zinc dithiophosphates, the antioxidants used to formulate today’s modern automotive and industrial lubricants include aromatic amines, hindered phenols, sulfur compounds, and organo-metallic compounds like molybdenum," said Glenn Mazzamaro, Global Industry/OEM Liaison Manager for Vanderbilt’s Petroleum Department. "With the introduction of VANLUBE BHC, Vanderbilt is now the only company which can offer this wide range of antioxidant chemistry on a global basis."

R.T. Vanderbilt Company, headquartered in Norwalk, Connecticut, operates two chemical manufacturing plants in the U.S.—in Bethel, Connecticut, and Murray, Kentucky, and is also a distributor of chemicals and polymers for many large suppliers. The company, which also produces minerals, was founded in 1916 and recently celebrated its ninetieth anniversary.

Songwon International Americas, Inc. is the US affiliate of Songwon Industrial Company, Ltd. of Ulsan, South Korea. Songwon Industrial, founded forty years ago, is a leading producer of antioxidants and heat stabilizers for the plastics industry, as well as of additives for PVC, plasticizers, lubricants, surface coating agents, polyurethane, alkyl phenols, flocculants, and other chemicals.
