I peruse a number of forums searching for information and knowledge, and experience. I am amazed and distressed at the amount of illiteracy on every forum i visit.

For example, the recent usage of siezed!! for ceases on this forum.

If a person, or persons, cannot communicate in a way that conforms to the accepted standards of the language, their message deserves to be ignored.

Illiterate spelling, punctuation and content demonstrates a basic ignorance, and at the worst, stupidity.

If you cannot communicate your message in a form that is recognized as valid, why would you expect anyone to believe you, when they cannot even understand you?

Being illiterate may be an accepted badge of existance in some places, but, it removes you from the mainstream of communication.

If you cannot even compose a sentance, or complete a paragraph in a concise manner, your message is lost.

Find the mistakes and let the "fun" begin...

For being such a stickler for correct spelling and such, you need to learn where to post such threads as this. I would suggest you re-think your condemnation of us who are less than perfect in our use of the language.

This should be posted in the General forum not in the PCMO forum.

1. It's a discussion forum and not a novel

2. Yes, there is a certain level of laziness that is annoying sometimes- get over it.

3. With a post like that you better hope that you never make a grammatical error.

It is nice that most here take the high road and respond to help answer ones question without analyzing their grammar.

Feel free to ride your high horse over to an ing-glish forum

all this from a guy from a state that i doubt many speak proper english if even english at all! LOL im quite the bad speller, and dont always speak proper english, im from indiana and most here say i sound as if im from tennesse, but the thing is this is an OIL site, i doubt all is proper on an OIL site, and i doubt many expect that, properly written/worded or not there is alot of good advice/opinions to be found here

From the latest statistic that I remember 1/3 of all Americans are Functionally illiterate.

They cannot correctly read directions on the side of a bottle of prescription medication.

In the last 30 years the number of literate human beings has dramatically dropped.
I can only imagine that Internet forums and text messaging are making the problem worse.

Good luck with your crusade.

He also used an extra "and" where it was not needed, an uncapitalized "I", used the word "illiterate" in the wrong context and used the word "but" where the word "however" would have been more appropriate. Also spelled "Illiteracy" wrong in the title heading.
Other wise he makes a good point, though posted in the wrong area.
It is annoying to try to read threads filled with run on sentences and spelling mistakes. When I run up against one of those threads I just move on.
I likely should have done the same with this one. LOL!!!

The reality is that "bringing everybody up" brings down many as a whole. There always were lots of dumb people - high school/college educated or not. And a lot of smart ones, again, high school/college educated or not. The issue is that many who would not otherwise be heard are able to be heard over the internet - it is one of the powers of the internet.

Some are lazy, some dont know any better, some just plain never knew. Is it right or wrong? Technically it is wrong. Im sure this very post has something wrong in it. My issue isnt having something that is "wrong" in the purest sense of the language, it is in the sheer laziness and lack of etiquette shown in some circumstances. And yes, if someone is typing all caps or cant express themselves correctly, I generally ignore them, just like I would if some dope talked to me off the street using obscenities, poor language, etc. Some go to an extreme, but there is a basic level of decent communication that should be upheld, IMO.

Looks like someone making remarks about others spelling, could use a spelling lesson.,,,
