Yeah I noticed that lately, its quite strange but I think a certain subset of our population wants this country to fail. I have no idea why, I can only suspect its a combination of self loathing and jealousy when they see the world passing them by.

I blame it on our poor education system as well. Economics is certainly not touched on in HS and hardly in some colleges. So in general a large portion of the population has a very poor grasp on what they are seeing and how things work. They may read a bit but most of the [censored] online or that they read is just that, [censored]. So they get all worked up over things they think they understand, but they don't, than go out and make irrational choices.

Like for example this forum should have a thread and if their is one I missed it on loading up on cheap stock and RE. Its like the super after Xmas sale is on and instead of buying at .30 to .50 cents on the dollar everyone decides to wait and pay full retail.

I guess that's why only 10% of the people in this country make any money. What's the old saying? Bulls and bears make money, and pigs get slaughtered?

You can't deny that the US is in a "death throes" and like any suffering animal the longer it goes on the more painful it is for the animal and the concerned person watching. I think it is about putting this wounded animal out of its misery.

It is too late for anything to save it now.

A criminal elite running most elements of society, gov't,economic (FED) business, and legal.

Hundreds of trillions in debt.

Battling endless wars we have no business being involved in that are unconstitutional therefore illegal.

A broken economy

An eviserated manufacturing base.

Hordes of third world immigrants legal and illegal that not only are an alien culture to ours but have limited skills and little sense of what the western culture is all about much less a desire to integrate into it ("press one for english")

I hate to say it but put a fork in it, its over.

I've wondered that too.

Interesting graph.

Ok, I lied. Worker's share of income is shrinking.

Supply side Voodoo economics.

People call collective bargaining in unions corruption and extortion of the tax payer. Tell that to the experienced Florida school teacher who earns a meagre 38 thousand dollars a year. Let me borrow one of your talking points: 'Something for nothing". This is what you want by stripping the rights of unions. You want all these essential services school teachers, police, fireman, nurses, civil servants etc etc for close to nothing. On the contrary to the myths you have read public sector workers are not overcompensated so this corruption talk is nonsense.

The private sector today cannot see past quarterly returns in an effort to make quick profits for their shareholders. As a consequence they will continue to deliver more of the same in terms of more consumerism, financial innovations, and bad entertainment. Research and development takes patience and long term planning which the private sector lacks out of their need to make a quick profit.

I'm tired of these debates of where the bulk of the value is too. There is a role for both the private sector and the gov't in the economy. The far right spews off these false talking points that only the private sector can create wealth. This is both factually incorrect and not consistent with history.I'm tired of the right wing extremism in US politics. It all started to unravel with Thatcher's best friend Reagan who set the nation on a regressive course via trickle down economics which amounted to the continuous siphoning off of wealth to the top 1%. People defend trickle down economics and the current corporate structure. Just accept the fact that you have no liberal/leftist institutions left. They have been eradictaed by a well planned corporate state so today we get to read a collection of talking points spoon fed to people for so many years by this big corporatocracy.

Certainly I can say that because its absolutely untrue.

I don't have time to refute each of your points individually but most of them are flat out wrong.

I'll leave it like this, look around the world and find one country with no problems, actually compared to most we are the best investment by far.

Oh and don't say China, China has some major issues they need to confront over the next 20 years. We haven't looked like China since 1790.

One of the problems with our public school system is that the teachers are underpaid. Everyone of them should be making at least $50k-$60k a year, or more. How can we expect to attract talented people to educate our kids with such crummy wages? You know what art teachers start at? Under $20k! [censored] Walmart pays better!

Buster you are coming from a point of ignorance. Besides, I said nothing of corruption. Read why FDR opposed gov. employee unions. And find out about the beni's in some local gov emp unions. Pretty nice coverage for almost no dollars.

Nice job bailing on our PM chat. What a weasel.

I think you just proved that you are the weasel by mentioning a PM in a public forum. Second, I bailed because you had nothing to say.

Admit it Pablo, you're ideology is flawed and you've continually voted for corrupted, bogus conservatives for the past 30 years. Admit it.

HAAAAAAAAA I'm ignorant because I disagree. Wow. Look in the mirror buddy.

That is actually not true here. Teachers here start around $40K, most are now in the $60-$70K range. I agree GOOD teachers should be well compensated....bad teachers and terrible schools, not so much.

But we're starting to look a LOT like Brazil does.

I don't apologize for also saying that I detest the destruction of the Western European culture that the US has been based on since it's inception back when the Pilgrims came here.

Now we are gradually turning into a polyglot of babylonian proportions.

The USA was never "supposed to be a nation of all nations" , the "posterity" or progeny the preamble of the Constitution was talking about was Anglo Saxons and the kindred peoples.

The truth is somewhere in between ... unions have a place and a role to play, but they're every bit as corruptible as management.

Pablo, now I know you can't be trusted since you mentioned a PM out in the public. So don't expect anymore, not that I really cared anyway.

I didn't even have time to respond, and you bailed - wow. Really weird, actually.

My ideology is fine. I will readily admit people on your side have let you down , time and time again. Throwing money at problems has been so effective since 1964.

I'm 35. You're in your 50's. It's not my generation that created these problems. You've probably voted for psuedo conservatives for the past 30 years, who have done nothing at all to make matters better so you really have little room to preach.

I never said I was a collectivist. You sound like Glen Beck now, making broad sweeping generalizations.

Well than your friend needs to get some training to get into another field. Clearly their are other issues at work here.

you took the words out of my mouth, there is no excuse for not working that long, other than extreme medical.. if you cant get a job in your field, get a job in a different field.. at 35 yrs old, IVE BEEN UNEMPLOYED 2 WEEKS SINCE I WAS 13.. ive got the social security paperwork to back up my claim... Ive not always made great or even good money.. but ive never been a burden on society ..

Oh, you never actually say it. But it's pretty obvious from your "news" sources. I actually don't really think you are any kind of commie or collectivist. You like the finer things in life too much for that. But I would say you are more a typical American liberal. You have all kinds of great ideas on how to spend OPM. And you actually do very little to help things/people in your community, country or world.
