Law Enforcement - What Are Your Pet Peeves?

I am well aware of the 1st amendment and have great respect for the constitution. And yes the foresight of our founders are 2nd to none.

CLEARLY yes I am not understanding anything because even though we are legally allowed to curse at police officers I never would. Therefore I could never wrap my mind around the idea…. FYI, curse at a judge or politician and watch how quickly you get grabbed up. …much faster than a cop in the street would.

You gentlemen or ladies have yourself a good evening.

Yes, but you just re-stated the entire point. If we only allowed speech we collectively agreed with, then it wouldn't really be free speech.

Yes, clearly. You just proved it twice.

If I was a cop and please answer if there is a law on this. If there was a law, my peeve is dogs in the drivers arms. Total driver distraction and driver impediment in an emergency avoidance move. Not to mention distracted driver senario.

My pet peeve is the state police being over state inspections in Virginia. Dumbest thing in the world. What other state are the state police over inspections? I don’t understand it honestly. But basically every time I write a state inspection and applied for state inspector they know everything about me including my credit score, my debts, they get notified if I get a ticket or in a wreck or anything else who knows what else. Ridiculous and I hate it but having the state inspection license is ridiculous. They are trying to get rid of state inspections but I don’t see it being anytime soon. But in my opinion it should be like ASE that’s over it or something like that not police. Just my opinion. It seems like a power grab more than anything else because why would the state police be so worried about it.

I think it is unreasonable for some to have opinions on such things without ever having been in the seat themselves.

Generally, I support the police, they have a really hard job, dont get paid much for the duty, and on a daily basis put their lies on the line to enforce the law. And above all that, one mistake in a heated situation, can put an officer in huge legal peril, from a jury of folks who have never been on the muzzle end.

Man, do you remember when a Marine in STA platoon for 3/5 (I think) recorded them peeing on a few corpses of insurgents they just killed after experiencing 11 of their brothers killed and the blackwater contractors hung from the bridge? Then every single other person chimed in with their opinions......

I feel like being a cop is basically living that world of hearing opinions, but every day.

I have utmost and 100% total respect for ANYONE who puts on a military or a LEO uniform. It is easy for us laymen to forget that each day when those put the uniforms on, they are also putting something else on. They are putting their very own life ON the LINE each day they are out there and among us in the public. Lets face it. There are some really dangerous / crazy / evil and angry nuts out there each day looking for trouble.
So , I have a question for the BITOG retired or active LEOs and really want opinions and feelings about this thing that burns me up. I want to know how you even deal with this subject and why it is so out of control? It truly appears there is no one is doing a thing about it. The thing is it is very dangerous to not only the men/women in uniform out there protecting us, it is also a danger to every innocent family of civilians out and about / driving the highways who are obeying the laws best they can.
Question: Why do I continue to see more and more autos and trucks , etc... (private owned mostly) going around (appears they are simply allowed to) with near every single window close to 100% blacked out!? I say allowed because I know it is against the law YET there they are every time I take to the road. Local roads, highways, interstates etc.... and it is more and more vehicles I keep seeing this way. This is so very dangerous to not just LEOs but also to the general public. There is no way on earth anyone can see inside these vehicles. There can be and are most likely many of the people behind those blacked out windows (why? unless up to no good?) who are carrying deadly weapons. So exactly how dangerous (plenty if you ask me) is it for a LEOs who are out there trying to enforce the laws to approach these cars etc.. with zero way to tell if he is in danger of not just a car with weapons but also maybe the LEO is badly outnumbered by some really dangerous characters? Why are the people doing this being allowed to smugly and arrogantly (no fear of repercussions) run around brazenly breaking the law? Are the LEOs simply just way too far outnumbered and it is to the point it is so out of control we have given up correcting or putting a stop to this dangerous act?

There are a lot more dangerous jobs than being a police officer. Let’s get real here, driving a commercial truck is more dangerous than being a cop.

And if you’re that scared of your job, you shouldn’t be doing it in the first place.
