The 2000 Cobra R (370 HP) was great...then they produced the 2003 SVT Cobra (390 HP) (more HP for a lot less money).

The entire mustang community reacted like a kick to the face, but I thought Ford was smart to do it. The Cobra R had a limit of 300 production models.

No kidding? For what reasons? Reliability? Better launches on the track?

I remember when this was all the rage at the corral.net. The IRS was causing the rear to hop all over the place on the track, so they offered them up for swaps with GT owners.

The "R" was "rated" at 385HP, but put down ~380HP on the chassis dyno... Indicating that the engine itself made around 425HP....

The '03/04 Cobra was similar; rated at 390HP, but would often put down that (some even more) to the tires. There have been instances of these cars, stock, running bottom 12's... (12.2x).
