Idiots that drive with hitch balls attached…

You know I wanted to add, after I got the Caprice fixed from the scooter fire, a guy at work backed in to that bumper with his ball. I was able to buff most of it. He had no idea he had done it. I just happened to know his truck. I let it go, I understand how you feel, but the way some people are talking about it here is pure nonsense. It has more to do with the person. The Malibu has been hit and run twice, certainly not by someone with a hitch installed. If you hit it that is on you. If someone hits you that is on them. If you hit it and it is not moving? You were too close to it anyway.
Numerous psychologists have studied the difference between a win and a loss.

Win $1,000 USD at a casino, it is a nice “high”. Lose $1,000 USD at a casino, the low is much lower than the high of winning $1,000.

On a MACRO basis, same with a hit and run to a vehicle. It is a huge low to a victim. Psychologist report it isn’t the financial loss from a hit and run, it is a much deeper brain drain.

I try to avoid driving in places that have tailgaters, and the density of traffic is robust, and drivers feel stressed to a point they are in a unnecessary hurry.

Maybe I am just getting old, having less obligations, and a better time manager than in my youth. I am very rarely in a hurry to get anywhere.
Tailgaters sometimes can't be avoided. Even driving in my own suburban neighborhood at the 20 MPH speed limit (which is a real practical limit because children play and dogs and deer bolt out into the street), I've had someone so anxious to get home faster that they felt the need to tailgate me for 3 blocks, which is that much closer a tailgate when doing only 20 MPH.

I pulled aside to let them past, then continued to drive. They noticed and must have wondered if I was about to road rage because they hesitated before pulling into their driveway 2 blocks further up the street, apparently concerned that I'd know where they live.

I'm surprised by all of the people that state the trailer hitch is there to save them from rear end hits or has saved them from one, I've driven a full size truck for 43 years and even though i don't feel it, I must be awfully lucky for never having that problem and I live in the city with the worst drivers in the US....... just saying.
