Idiots that drive with hitch balls attached…

https://www.car-part.com/

If this is a popular model, you might be able to find a color match, especially being in a populous state like NJ. Some yards can source from adjacent states too.

Getting a bumper in mint condition from a yard might be a challenge. In the body industry, there is typically "clean-up" time to fix any imperfections. If it's the wrong color, a body shop will have to sand/repair at least the front face because fresh paint will amplify even light stone chips.

Just make sure the recycled one is not aftermarket, they typically have a yellow capa sticker on the inside face if it's a higher grade AM. Low grade AM, you can't tell until you install it, that is it might not fit perfectly.

You'll need an absorber as well and make sure the reinforcement beam isn't bent either, not likely by the picture but worth checking.

What year make model?
I was going to link the same. You might need to hunt but they also have shipping options. I bought a white matched fender for my daughters '08 CRV. I drove to CT to pick it up to keep any shipping issues away.

I just bought 2 CV axles for my son's '10 Forte with 87k on them. His drivers side went and Kia has discontinued them.. We tried 2 different aftermarket ones and they both vibrated at highway speeds. The aftermarkets don't have the weighted damper in middle of shaft. Just picked up car yesterday and nice and smooth with the used one in it.

Co-worker got a matching blue fender for his Civic Si from Car-part also.

The title of this thread should be changed to "Idiots with no integrity that hit you and run in a parking lot".

I agree with the member that said you should check with the security cameras of the shopping area. Soon. Because they may not store the images for very long.

… and then back up into other parked cars in the shopping center parking lot.

Don’t mind how filthy my bumper is, I’ve been on a good number of long trips recently.

But some unaware idiot put their hitch ball through my bumper cover. Guessing I’m going to have to replace.

Do I dare try to find a good used one? Certainly don’t want aftermarket parts.

What’s my best bet?
This is why I never take a parking spot behind a truck with the ball hitch in place. It seems all too likely that the driver may misjudge the length of their vehicle, including the ball hitch sticking well beyond their bumper, and accidentally put that hitch into my car's bumper or grill.

so if I drive around with a hitch ball in my truck and back into parking spots I could cause half the members of this site to meltdown in one day LOL
If I hit my shin on an extended hitch carrying groceries to my car, it will be gently placed on your hood near the windshield wipers. That's me being courteous ... where I really wish to throw it through your back glass 💋

where I live, every other house has a boat and trailer in the yard. Plus a lot of boat mechanics/repair people. The latter have several ball hitches on one stem that can be rotated to fit what the trailer calls for. I see why those guys leave them on and ready to use. It's their work. I take my personal one out and store it when not in use.

LOL well I guess since I don't back up against sidewalks, if you hit your shin on my hitch you should watch where you're walking huh? And don't worry, camera's would catch you doing that and a call to the police would be made. That would be being courteous versus throwing the hitch at your head 💋

Perfect example of what leads to threads like this.

It's ideal to install a front and rear dash camera with parking mode, especially for incidents like these. Hit and run is a felony and sucks they weren't caught.

Used bumper would be either cars that are parting out listed on the forums, ebay or junk yards.

And would be particularly ****ing if a video shows the driver get out of his truck and look at the damage, before driving away.

I leave mine on a

l leave my trailer hitches in all three of my super dutys, in a leather bag on the floor of the rear seating area. I put the hitches in the receiver when needed and remove the hitches immediately after use.
Exactly. Takes like three seconds to do.

We do it all the time to pull the boat.

Maybe I should start driving around with the bike carrier in the hitch receiver though? Bigger is better, right?!?

One ball off / two balls on 😷😷

Yes my hitch and ball where always on my truck. I never knew when I would need to hook up. Not due to work but because my family has a lot of farmers and any time you visit you might get put to work!

My wife is a farm girl. I had CDL A and B with Hazmat, Tankers, Passengers, doubles. I only just let my CDL go at 53 since I have not used it in a few years. Heck I even drove two different Marching Band trailers around and 2 different US Robtics High School team around and trailers. One School used a 53 foot trailer for marching band the other a tiny trailer you could pull with a pickup truck. The robotics teams where Yellow bus +trailer or 16 passenger van +trailer. We moved during my oldest sons Senior Year but my twins where in MIddle School so the size of the schools was drasiticly different.

When I worked as a pilot I could only fly so many hours a year. I would drive commercial for the rest of the year. Covid ended that though the vaccine damaged my heart just enough so my heart timming is too far out to fly commericaly now. To be honest I never much liked driving but I did a lot of specialty work that bad well and allowed me to pick and choose what I wanted to do.

My point is that you often fall into work even if your only driving a 1 Ton so few people that tow regularly will take the ball off or remove the goose neck/5th wheel. Now you might not have your DOT info on your daily driver when not working that is what magnetic signs are for!

I left the drawbar in on a car once. For one winter. It wasn't coming out for love nor money the following year! Couple years later I finally pulled the whole works and spent at least 45 minutes hammering on it (3lb maul?) to drive the drawbar out. Never left it in after that.

My old house did have Jersey barriers to prevent one from going over the edge (4' drop to the backyard). I guess tapping that with a drawbar would be better than tapping with a bumper. Think I did tap it one time, but only once, didn't feel like testing my luck.

There was a guy at my old office building that had a pickup with an attached, extended tongue and hitch ball. He always backed in near the door and his hitch extended over half the sidewalk. After a number of skinned shins complaints, management asked him to either remove it or stop backing in there. He gave them the finger and management banned him to the outer lot. 👅
Just needed the one person to bang their shin and sue. Some people just like being oblivious jerks.
Yes, they should look where they are going, but he shouldn't be blocking the sidewalk.
Agree. I don't understand those people that try to enforce their rights OVER the rights of others. An clear walking path is the point of a sidewalk and walkway. Right? And so this guy's extended hitch makes people walk around "his" equipment to avoid it. Anyone who has walked into to trailer hitch/ball etc. can attest to the swear words that are created buy doing so. Plus.... What's with backing-in?? Easier to leave? Are people that much in a hurry these days??

I just logged on to say that we have folks in our Condo. complex that back into parking spaces so their hitches extend over the sidewalk. I see them but I'm always warning my wife about them when we walk together.

Many times I stopped just as someone was walking behind my car as I am backing out. I get a better view pulling out of a space than backing out. People in my town are 1/2 asleep when they walk and it's safer for them and better for my auto insurance.

You’re kidding yourself if you think the police are showing up for you.

See my post #40 for your name.
