Forget Chinese market. On Chinese market the winners are those that CCP decides.
I was in Berlin few weeks back and saw 1 Tesla. Rest are some Euro EV, but mostly Chinese. That is where the problem is.

I didn’t actually brought up FSD. It was mentioned by other member as some kind of feature.
The I3 will have BMW's ADAS, known for highly automated driving capabilities, and cutting edge Neue Klasse computer platform.
The Neue Klasse platform was designed to handle sophisticated hands-free driving. It can process so much more data and far faster than just the human driver.
I only wonder what these cars will cost? Loan a poor boy some scratch?

That is OK, but that is not what defines a vehicle, especially to those that BMW goes after. FSD is not going to keep Tesla in the game, nor will ADAS or whatever.
So, your food is delivered, your car drives you, AI will take your job, and......
I find that pushing FSD, etc., is usually coming from these engineers who have a really hard time being among, well, other people.
There's gonna be those that like being whisked around in a plastic egg-shaped capsule that does 0-60 in 2.6 that think they're the second coming.
There will be more that feel this way.
It's understandable.
It's the future and I get it.
I'll ask you this...would you pay to go watch an F1 race that featured a full field of EV cars?
I wouldn't. Not for free.
And therin lies the conundrum. Technology allows cars to be heavier yet faster, handle better, brake better. The engine development between opposing teams will be all but moot.
I'll get into an EV when I'm forced to and won't complain.
But at that point the passion that fed the driver in me will have been sucked dry.
The plastic orb I crawl into everyday will be nothing more than a vessel to get from A to B.
How do Cars & Coffee's go from here? Guys talking about battery longevity and brighter headlights?

Quite the apocalyptic view of it that you have. Have you driven a good, fast EV that actually has great dynamics and the ability to cut traction control and actually feel the chassis? Just because it is an EV and has the ability of drive itself doesn't mean that it's devoid of the things that actually make driving fun. I've had some absolutely nuts modified cars and my Model Y Performance is up there with most of them. Sure it doesn't get as wild as my GTO by having that sound, but in drift mode it is just as much as a sideways tire smoking monster, yet it is able to drive itself when I just want to eat up miles on a long trip. It just does everything to the point that I didn't know what was possible of a daily driver before owning it.

I think it's more that engines have personalities and make their own unique noises. The sounds are key, and for me like music.
I get up early to go for drives when most people are just waking up. I have for years and it's at the top of my list of pleasures.
I've been in an S Plaid and there's no denying the craziness, it's nutz no question and I'm glad I experienced it.
It'll never replace the number of ICE cars I hold dear though. And one's I hope to own in the future.
I'm pretty old so there's that.

I totally understand that. I'm not leaving gasoline powered vehicles behind. I'm just adding something new to the stable. I've always been the person that said I had the last of the best as technology changed. This GTO is the last of the throttle cable cars and they went to drive by wire on the next model. The funny thing is when the traction control kicks in, the pedal literally kicks back. I said the same of my last F150. It was a 2017 5.0 V8 and I said that since it was the last of the non stop/start 5.0s that it was the best variation of the model. At some point I decided to actually look at the future of the automobile with an open mind. There are a lot of boring, restrained EVs. I'm glad that as this has happened that some companies have found a way to have fun even with EVs. No matter what they're powered by, I'll be a tire smoking hooligan that loves driving. I've just really widened my horizons on the matter in the last few years.Nice stable man

While I've always liked the idea of an EV from a technological standpoint, I would have never thought I'd actually own one. Now I would think I wouldn't daily drive anything else. Weekend toys are another matter.
Tesla is obviously doing something right, the long-term ownership reviews are very positive.

Yeah the only certified and verified level 3 in the usa.
It's geofenced. Very limited, parts of CA and NV I believe. Tesla can go anywhere.
Agree, Tesla is getting Hammered in China, however to be transparent the Chinese Tesla plant makes more vehicles than anyone else and exports just surged 127% first six months of 2026.
Thing is they are now exporting those cars to the rest of Europe because Chinese Tesla sales have been in a downward spiral. Tesla exports from its Chinese operations are surging by a massive magnitude. First half of 2026 exports from Tesla China are up 127% (think about that) an increase of over 100,000 Tesla EVs exported the first half of this year compared to the first half of last year.
Giga Shanghai has pivoted from serving China to serving the world.
Here is the Tesla problem. IF speculation was correct, which Musk deny's, and there would be a possible merger of Tesla and Space X in the future. Tesla is now considered a Chinese company in the sense that a massive amount of cars being built in China are now being exported. "Giga Shanghai has pivoted from serving China to serving the world." (source below) There lies an issue of National Security Concerns if Tesla was to merge with Space X (a major defense and space contractor) it would be doubtful a merger was even possible in that situation.
Will Tesla China be spun off? Sold?
