i3 Neue Klasse selling out?

It's geofenced. Very limited, parts of CA and NV I believe. Tesla can go anywhere.
Only until it runs railroad gates and has hardware failure after Musk "promised " a lite hw4 upgrade to hw 3 owners. Face it Tesla hasn't met many of the unicorns and sprinkles utopia that Musk promised oh Guaranteed many years ago. Sure Mercedes level 3 is a little limited but if level 3 was soooo easy why doesn't Tesla have SAE certified level 3 software? They can't do it. I see cars was able to dig up accident rates that Tesla tried to hide. "A widely-cited study reported Tesla vehicles have the highest fatal accident rate among all car brands at 5.6 fatalities per billion miles — double the 2.8 industry average. The Model Y was reported at 10.6/billion.".
  • United States: Approved exclusively on specific highways in California (Bay Area, Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego, Central Valley) and Nevada (including parts of I-15 and Las Vegas).
  • Germany: Authorized for use on designated autobahn sections".

Yes, because FSD is crashing those cars.

Tesla is cheap. They don't want to take responsibility for the cars getting tickets, so they keep it a supervised system. I'd rather have it that way anyway. Apparently Merceds is cheap too. If Mercedes Level 3 was a financial boon for them, Mercedes wouldn't have canceled it. I'm sure they'll keep developing their Level 2 system though. There's less liability for the manufacturer with Level 2.

Do you actually believe this junk?

I'm not sure Mercedes cancelled Drive Pilot; it is definitely on-hold though.

MBZ paused the rollout of its Level 3 "eyes-off" autonomous system, Drive Pilot, due to high production costs and low customer demand, shifting focus instead to a Tesla-like Level 2++ "hands-off, eyes-on" system called MB. Drive Assist Pro.

There are those who say BMW and Mercedes vindicated the Tesla approach. Tesla held firm at Level 2+ and built its system around cameras rather than LIDAR. Flame suit on!

Obviously there's a reason for the Level 2 approach.

For that matter and camera only, Volvo just scrapped LiDAR. It seems Tesla knew more than most people wanted to admit.

Development is a funny thing. I am a veteran of large scale custom software development for business needs. I'm doing so, I've gone down a lotta roads to find the one that works. Plus, given change is the only constant, any solution is sure to have a limited lifespan.

I give MBZ and the others kudos for all their incredible work. Going forward, their work will resurface.
Real progress is hard. It takes what it takes. All good.

For sure. We'll all benefit from all of their efforts.
