Is the engine a 2-cycle or standard 4-cycle?

Seems to me a blown 6-Literish diesel V8 would be suficient.

The engine is a 4 stroke. It is a very high tech V10 engine with everything gear driven. The cams, water pump, power steering pump and alternator are all driven by gears. The cylinder liners are coated with a plasma spray and are supposed to be almost as hard as diamond. It also has 2 variable vane turbos attached. The spooky part is that this is still the 20 valve engine. They are planning a 40 valve version of this with unit injectors. It should take the power up to 400+ hp area. It will have enough torque to get you to the ball game.
