I was Sick

RSV is going about. The resulting dry hacking cough can last months. I almost caught it. Felt an immune response for a day, swollen lymph nodes in the neck, slight chills, and a dull headache. I went into the sauna and then I took an ice bath. Shocked the immune system into a drastic increase of leukocytes. Don't do this unless you know your Cardiovascular system is up to it! Slept 6 hours and aside from some mild brain damage I was good as new. My wife is not faring so well. I'm playing nurse. "I'm here to take your temperature." "Get the fork away from me!"

I hear it’s going around.

Always wash your hands.
Soap, warm water, scrubbing vigorously, from the elbows down for 30 seconds. Rinse well. Fresh towel or even better a paper towel. Don't touch your face. Avoid all snouts.

I've had co-workers in the past 2 weeks or so diagnosed with either NV or RSV. Rough stuff for sure. Hopefully it skips the rest of us.

That's a bummer. Hoping to avoid (no surprise!). I think I had it years ago, kids brought it home as toddlers. For us it was a 12 hour affair--but it felt like a 2 week cold/flue compressed into 12 hours. Whatever it was that I had, it sure felt like it was trying to kill me.

Crazy, I felt "under" the weather on New Year's day. Nothing crazy, just a headache. So, I went to work Thursday. I work 9-7 Thursday. Around 5 pm, I started getting the chills bad. Like my whole body was shaking. I kinda brushed it off thinking it was just the weather. It's pretty cold out in Chicago right now. I got home around 7:30 and checked my temperature and I had a whopping 102 fever. I took some Tylenol and went to bed. Woke up around 4 am to check my temperature and it went down to 101.

Anyway, I ended up taking a COVID/flu test and it came out Positive Friday. Spoke to my Dr. and he said I might've had COVID-19 on New Year's day. So, I should take the test again tonight. I feel 100x better. No fever, just a light headache. Haven't had a fever higher than 99 since Friday. Hopefully, it comes out negative. I hate being at home with nothing to do.

This year may go badly. Avian flu is a couple mutations away from jumping to humans. If you think SARS-CoV-2 was bad, do I have bad new for you. Even if avian flu doesn't make the jump this year, it eventually will. That reminds me, 28 Years Later will be released this year. Do you prefer Captain Trips or flesh-eating zombies?

Man I feel your pain…

I got Norovirus just before Christmas and it was horrid. Unfortunately I get it more often than I like.

This past time was the worst I ever had it. I vomited for 14 hours straight…no more than 45 minutes between sessions. Usually I get sick and get a 2 hour window before I get sick again.

This thing is evil!

Who and what are you in contact with to catch norovirus more than very rarely?

I had Covid the week before Xmas. Never thought I'd get it again, but I guess walking around the mall, being a UPS driver helper, exposed me to it. Had to have the whole week off which was a bummer because I needed the money. I knew it was Covid because things tasted extra salty and metallic for a couple days, along with most of the other cold-like symptoms.

With many individuals who practice minimal hygiene precautions. And I generally don’t have access to soap until I am in my office or home.

Hand sanitizers are useless against Norovirus…

Been sick since late last Sunday, 1 week ago. Felt a touch off during the day, felt crummy in the evening. Monday I felt like garbage. Fever, chills, very larthargic. Fever went away Wednesday, but have since been super congested, sore throat, and headache. Also lost taste and smell. Finally can smell again today and could taste yesterday. Hopefully it's clearing up fully. Might have had Covid again or Flu, not sure.

Glad you’re feeling better; seems like most people I know are, or were, sick recently. My daughter (4.5) has RSV and pneumonia. Had 103-103.6 fevers for about 5 days. Trip to the ED, a pediatrician visit, and a 2 view chest X-ray all in that timeframe. One high dose (for kids) of Decadron and Amoxicillin for 10 days. 48 hours later and she’s feeling pretty good finally.
