I was at a strip mall that has some EV charging. The property includes Tesla Superchargers as well as Shell (former Volta) setups that are open to users 24/7. The property includes a fast food restaurant with 24/7 hours, at least for the drive thru and a dining room open early, along with several ATMs open 24/7. Also a well known coffee retailer that’s open pretty early. And with a lot of businesses, there are vagrants.
It has several of those security setups with cameras/lights that are parked in spaces. Big blue flashing light with cameras on the top of a telescoping tower. I get that there are a lot of vagrants hanging around.
However, I was there just getting something to eat early in the morning, but I guess someone walked near one of these things. That triggered a prerecorded message about trespassing. Don’t recall if it noted that “police are being contacted” or general threats of prosecution. It did seem kind of offputting. Might be timed, but businesses in the strip mall were absolutely open at the time.
I’m curious what the point was in this exercise. The cameras and possibly remote monitoring might be helpful, but blasting a loud recording was really annoying.
