I'd be satisfied if voter fraud could be brought under control. Why anyone would be opposed to government issued ID card being a requirement to vote is beyond me. Well actually I do know why some folks might be opposed to having to show valid issued authentic ID to vote, but that's another topic.

The only fact I will state is our particular state was called out nationally having an issue but reality very few cases actually happened. The largest issue with ID card is people without drivers licenses seldom have government ids currently and it would filter down the vote to a certain leaning. I think the fraud part has some reality but is blown up x 100 to help the front.

The fraud part is somewhat insane as there are very few cases nationally. A large percentage of people can't be bothered to vote. The exact number is still being tabulated, but in 2016, about 60% of the eligible voters voted, the midterms in 2014 had about 36.7%. The 2018 vote while higher than the 2014 vote is still below the 2016 vote.
As for the whole ID thing, it's called the constitution. The 24th amendment eliminated the poll tax. If you have to show ID, that means you have pay for an ID which would be a poll tax. Lots of elderly and those that don't drive don't have an ID. I think some states get around that by offering free IDs. But there's still a cost to getting one like taking the day off or the several hours of travel it might take and I forget the state that tried to close a bunch places that issued IDs.
