Came to be called the "democracy sausage", and there's net resources to help you find which polling places have them...

This is one of the most Aussie things I've ever heard, only thing missing is a cold beer. Love it!

yet another reason to like Oz.... and the sausage thing sounds good too...

I voted today. I even research and vote for judges as my dad is a retired attorney. Many people who vote do so for everything but the judges.

Pretty much the only time you'd want to hear the phrase "voters today hit a snag"

That would be ok, I guess, if the polls were open for 24 hours to give everyone time to vote.

My brother convinced me at the last minute so I went down to the place he told me and go to and it was the wrong one and it was too late to go to the correct place. Turns out not only do you have to be in the right county y9u have to be in the right precennt too

Voting in not showing up at the last minute and pressing levers or filling in the circles and guessing if the issues are going to cost or the politicians name recognition helps make the choice. It is to study the issues and politicians records before voting for them. If it were up to me i would raise the voting age to 25 years old. Ban welfare recipients and government employees from voting. Does that need explaining and allow only property owners the right to vote because they usually bear the tax burden; Voting is serious .

So, you propose to disenfranchise deployed military? people who work out of town?

Not everyone goes home every night. Not everyone can make it to the ballot during your one day.

Absentee ballots make up for that.
