I tried to retire and failed

My theory about retirement and aging that is completely unencumbered by flimsy emperical data.

As we work and age, micro gravity increases around our bodies. It is refractory to measurement. These additional forces cause organ system and orthopedic stress. We develop spinal compression, arthritis, joint pain muscle atrophy, circulatory/cardiac and multiple system challenges. Retiring gravitational stress begins to reverse the issues which may slow down or sometimes spontaneously resolve.

Work=stress, increasing micro gravity
Stress= physical/mental problems
Reducing work=less micro gravity=fewer physical problems

So retire early and relieve your stress. You might feel the weight lifted from your shoulders.

I told my parents to get a manager but they have been self managing for so long and are OCD, that they want things their way for better or worse.

Sometimes they want to "train" me to take over full time, I told them after they pay themselves salary they have negative ROI and I remind them that I have a full time job that pays more than them.

8% is a good typical rate. Problem with outside management is, if you are OCD nobody can do things that "you" want if what you want is not "industrial standard".
I dont live in them. The rents are market competitive. They have replaced cabinets, flooring, carpet etc. over the years.I dont care what they install.I have such a long term relationship with them when the cost of repairs exceeds rents for a month or two- they always give me at least 50% of the rents so I get something and carry over the balance at no charge. Being old and OCD is not an advantage.

I'm 53. Very lucky to have worked for myself for over 20 years.

Part of what I'm doing right now with my career is a segway to a much lighter load, more travel and exercise, and less 'dead' time whether it's traffic or paperwork.

I'm eliminating stress. That's priority one. However possible. Whenever possible.

Even if it means I make less money or take fewer business opportunites.

I was lucky enough to hit my physical peak at 50, but I notice that stress hits me a lot harder now.

So I'm focusing on stress reduction and taking every step possible to avoid those who may be a source of it.

I need to travel more. Uruguay is on my short list. Nicaragua or Honduras is next. I want to find the quiet. The peaceful. My wife loves walking and visiting beautiful places, and I'm letting her guide us.

I have been to both Uruguay and Honduras-on cruises so the time was limited. But both were fine.
