Actually at the ER right now. Having been having a chest pain for three weeks. Normally I wouldn't have gone to medical for it, but Lindsay Graham death is something all of us might be good to reflect on.
A-L-W-A-Y-S get to an ER if chest pain. They will make you feel 100% that you did the right thing. One way to tell if you are having an attack that they do right away besides hooking you up to BP, Heart Rate and EKG is a simple Troponin Test that involves nothing more than a blood draw it goes right to the lab STAT.
Used in every ER as part of a heart attack evaluation.
Sincerely, I know this sounds over the top in the way I am writing this. IT IS NOT. 3 weeks was way too long IF it was your heart.
The reason to get right to the ER on day one is to prevent further heart damage IF the heart is being stressed due to lack of blood flow, which means O2 starvation which means killing off heart muscle that never comes back. So whenever anyone thinks they feel something going on in their chest, get right to the ER. They will evaluate you right away and also if a borderline thing might suggest to see a cardiologist. The cardiologist will be able to see the notes and tests done at the ER.
You may know I am passionate on this subject, even if it sounds corny to some. I am not kidding. Ive told the male side of my story many times in here and my own path to avoid what they went through. ITs hard to accept some times but get to the ER. If it's nothing, you will be out of there in a couple hours, if that. If it is something they will get to work on you STAT, in a way, no different than a stroke. They get to work to restore blood flow to stop the damage to the muscle. If it already subsided they will direct you to what needs to be done.
Ive been through it many times at the ER, once in an ambulance at around 64, at first thought it was work stress related, as time when on turned out to be an electrical thing (PVCs) that started becoming more common and then able to document and treat. TO this day, being proactive, my heart is 100% working and functioning correctly now EF scores constantly 56 to 60 last two times in this year alone it was checked. I do have arterial disease that I am doing well with as a lifestyle way of eating change..
Let us know how you make out! Wish you well!
