I'm happily plugged into the matrix, the world makes sense, ignoring politics, oil, everything. Ignorance is bliss, nothing is out of order, life is good!

Then I log back into BITOG!!... and it's like it's 2010 all over again! Oil oil oil... lol.

Sorry Ottawa, if you're looking for M1 0w40 on sale, there ain't any left.

The Caddy LTG Turbo has its oil choice for a few years.

I left “ this guy “ mentality a long time ago. Back then I was stress myself out over buying so much oil. Then I come to Realization why I do this to myself. It’s a problem. So I don’t do stash oil any more, I like having feeling grap a new bottle off the shelves.

I have a 2.0 LTG in Malibu. I have always used 5W-30 Dexos with no issue. How long do you go between changes on 0W-40?

I would actually store oil in a cheap tote that the hardware stores sell.
Because I have seen oil containers actually leak long before they should have.
The worst? (For me, anyway) Peak oil that Dollar General had on sale about 10 years ago. Most containers seeped after a few years.
The best? I just used some TropArtic (now called ShieldChoice) oil that was also about that old with no leaks.

With the 0w40 I’ll ride out the full OLM to 0%, which turns out to be around 11,000kms. Could never get myself to ride out the OLM with 5w30 because of early timing chain issues with Ecotecs and the natural viscosity loss of a 5w30 in a turbo DI engine, so the oil was changed around 40% OLM remaining, typically.

Right!?! So peaceful 😂

Careful, you might relapse if you read too much marketing malarkey.

If it’s something you know you’re gonna need and you can get it cheap, stash up. Nothing wrong with that.

Exactly. 4-6 jugs a year in the two ATS's, means I have around 2.5 - 3 years of oil changes. Cars are averaging about 15-20k kms a year, some years higher if they get taken out east to our cabin in Nova Scotia. The new to me ATS (2014) is ready for road trips. I'm going to do another OCI of Dexos1G3 ST oil, with more PEA cleaner, then switch it over to 0w40 next OCI.

Yep, once you get to third she's got something special mid throttle. Tuned with +60ft-lbs of torque, and smoother delivery across the power band. Had the tune on the 2017 for over 100k kms. Keeps that lazy short shifting out of the logic, reducing LSPI risk too.

Do you have a link to the tune you're using?

How do you like that ST Dex-VI/Merc LV?

Going into the 2014 ATS as soon as the tranny filter shows up. Likely this week. I'll post a thread about once done. I suspect it's the original fluid in there now, so I'm expecting an improvement.

The 2017 ATS takes Dexos HP, and Mobil owns that market, unless you want to pay $40 a quart for AC Delco branded mobil. It's getting the same service next week, but with Mobil's LV HP. I don't expect much improvement on the 2017 since the dealer put Mobil LV HP in there (flushed 20 quarts through it) less than 100k kms ago under warranty.

Ive checked out of 20...checked out of 30...the only way in my mind is 40 weight and anything less is for helping the car company meet fuel economy requirements.
