I need to choose a brand/model of Windshield Wipers

Beam wipers usually don't work on older cars/windshields, especially if the wiper arm is worn and the spring gets weak, and sometimes they don't even make new wiper arms anymore for them :sneaky:
If I had new wiper arms, or a new wiper arms springs, would beam wipers then work well on my old 97 Buick Park Ave?

Just curious. Although I'm perfectly happy with a conventional style wiper. I have lots of rain, but very little snow or ice.

2018 Santa Fe Sport using Trico Force or Trico Edge Beam blades. Two years of great service and then they peter out on the third year. I pull on the rubber one a month to make sure they don't seperate. I just replaced the rear wiper for the first time. Found a compatable blade at O'Reilly. The Force/Edge may be overkill for So. Calif. but very effective for winter driving in Oregon, Washington, Wyoming and Colorado. I only use Rain X washer fluid. It cleans off bugs and helps to move rain off the glass better than wipers alone.
Have you ever tried 20/10 washer fluid? I love that stuff!

Yeah, I use the inserts on my 13' CRV. Last a long time. Clean em with an alcohol pad to get the grime off of them and their like new. And they cheap too.

If I could find an exact fit conventional wiper with a silicone blade, or silicone edge on the blade, or a silicone coated blade; I'd be overjoyed!

Basically, I just want a good fitting conventional wiper that works well. If it's enhanced with silicone, that be a bonus because it would help it wipe better with no streaks or chatters.
What you're seeking shouldn't be difficult.
Have you tried the PIAA Aero Vogue?

maybe/maybe not, you'd just have to roll the dice and see :cautious:

You took me back decades when I used to buy 6 oz ANCO concentrate bottles. I could not find those anymore then tried 20/10 once maybe when they just started business. I don't remember why I stopped using concentrates. 20/10 might have been difficult to get. Or, I found white crystals clogging the washer jets so I defaulted to ready to use. I like the water repellent action of RAIN-X and 20/10 does not offer that.

I thought alcohol degrades rubber. Is that not the case?

I also thought WD40 degrades rubber. Yet many videos online use WD40 to clean wipers. Does WD40 degrade rubber?

For my 97 Buick Park Ave, 11 Hyundai Elantra Limited sedan, 03 Honda CR-V EX.

I recall in the past I tried...
Rain X streaked, chattered, and were awful.
NAPA Exact Fit Conventional fit perfectly and wiped acceptably.
Anco Universal Fit Conventional wiper fit OK with an adapter, wiped perfectly with no streaks, but was thick, bulky, and obstructed my vision, which was annoying.
Trico Exact Fit Conventional fits perfectly, wiped acceptably (prior to wearing out over 14 years).

I think the Trico Exact Fit Conventional is probably the same wiper as NAPA Exact Fit Conventional.

I've never tried Bosche or Michelin.

I want a traditional, classic, conventional design (not beam, not hybrid) that fits perfectly and wipes good, or ideally wipes excellent.

I wish I could find an exact fit conventional style wiper that fits as good as Trico Exact Fit Conventional that I have now, but wipes as good as the Anco universal fit conventional style with silicone edge that I used to have.

Does Trico or Anco make exact fit classic/traditional type wipers with a silicon edge?

I'd appreciate advice on this topic to find some really good fitting, good wiping, classic/tradional style (not beam) wipers.

My climate has a lot of rain and mostly moderate temperatures. I rarely have snow or ice.
Valeo wete the top rated conventional wiper blades for years. I only managed to find them at Sams club. The Trico teflon coated blades with a teflon strip lasted a long time and kept snow and Ice off. Advance auto parts I think started carrying them again.

I just buy whatever Ollie's stocks. I just bought and installed yesterday a Michelin branded wiper blade that was priced at $6, but after my 30% off coupon and sales tax I paid $4.44. So far so good.

Four packs of insert refills (just the rubber/silicone part) for $8 on amazon. They fit great in the $12-16/pair cheapo beams I've been putting on our cars. At $2 an insert, all three of my cars can get new inserts annually for $14. (Two have rear wipers, but are short enough I can cut one rubber to do both.) Buy the inserts long and cut to length.

Amazon.com - Cheap 26" refills. $7.50 for four.

Amazon.com - Cheap refillable blades. Ends remove with a pick, pocketknife, small screwdriver. ~$15 a set.

Yeah, they don't last as long as the Toyota OEM. Sure, I'd rather be getting a few years out of Bosch Icons, but I'm done playing the game. I'm tired of funding our economy by blowing my budget on cheap-but-overpriced consumables. For $4 a pair, I'll slap on new inserts like I change underwear.

This strategy makes it easy to keep universal spares on the shelf. Heck, keep a box of inserts in the trunk. Stocking stuffers! Time for annual inspection? Pop a few fresh ones on.

Any silicone wiper is the best. Lasts the longest. Rubber blades are garbage
Agreed. The challenge is finding a silicone wiper with conventional frame that fits good on my 97 Buick Park Ave.

In the past, I didn't like the fit of Anco universal fit wipers, which were fat and bulky. However, maybe there's a good fitting universal fit? I'd prefer an exact fit silicone wiper if available. Ideally with a conventional frame.

Ollie's stock looks Costco overstock. If so, not the best but not the worst either....and if they are asking for $4.44 = sold! go ahead and make a stash.
