Follow this guy's lead; I think he's on to something:

ON TO SOMETHING

Did you mean you want an oil with more ZDDP or ZZ TOP? My answer will depend heavily on your clarification.

In the old days - I would just put regular oil in a metal (has to be sturdy) coffee can, chuck a pushrod into my drill press and submerge the lifter in the can under the chuck. Work the press a few times, the lifter is pumped up and ready for install...

I would recommend the physical method (as above) vs. the oil trickery. Keep it simple.

Make certain that you carefully follow the cam manufacturer's recommendation for running in the lifters. Usually, something like 2,000 - 2,500 RPM for 20 minutes will get them run in on their lobes.

I would also pre-lube the engine (big drill chucked onto an old distributor shaft to turn the oil pump) if that's an option on your engine. Gets oil through the lifter galleries, up the pushrods and into the valvetrain prior to hitting the starter for the first time.

Listen here:

Fill a coffee can full of motor oil. Now submerge the lifters in the oil with the plunger side facing up. Take a pushrod and push on the lifter plunger several times against spring pressure for each lifter. When it get's harder to push, you'll know the lifter is pumped up full of oil.

Comp cams makes a really nice assembly spray that comes in an aerosol can and is very clingy to metal. I would recommend that.

If you want the thinnest possible look at redline 2 wt racing oil or they have a 5 wt/0w5 with much lower NOACK.

Put the lifters in a jar of oil, fabricate a vacuum hose to a screw on lid that seals the jar and pull a vacuum on it. It will remove the air and fill the lifter with oil at the same time.
