Sue and I only very seldom go to the movies but I convinced her go with me yesterday to see Steven Spielberg's "Disclosure Day". That movie is an excellent example of how one of the movie making GOATs can produce a turd sometimes.

And then for reasons I cannot explain, I went to the movies again today, by myself fortunately. I saw "Backrooms" and all I can say is that I left the theater grinning like a chimp because I was stupid enough to let someone pick pocket $20 from me so I could watch that ridiculous movie.

You've been warned.

I usually rely on a 8.0+ IMDB score before I plunk down money to see something in the theater. Project Hail Mary was the last one I saw on the big screen. My son saw Obsession with a group of friends, and liked it enough that they went back to see it a second time. Having said that, there are several movies that don’t get high reviews that I really like. But I’ll usually rent movies that don’t score high so I’m not that financially invested.

I don't do movies but an old gf raved about "Disclosure Day" 😆
Seriously...but I'm not going

Hollywood really has gone downhill and everyone knows it except for them.

Yeah, we still get a really groundbreaking or amazing movie every 3-5 years (if we're lucky), but they used to put out great content far more often.

Many have forgotten they're entertainers (and paid handsomely for that skill) and instead want to tell the peasants how to live their lives. The court jesters now think they're the royalty.

My wife saw Backrooms with coworkers and said it was pointless. However, we've been wondering about DD, so appreciate your warning.

I sent my old gf Scott's review...
She called me at 9:30 last night bragging about it... 😁

Well, compared to Backrooms, DD is an Oscar winner. But that doesn't mean it's good.

The following review is amusing to watch. The guy is not only accurate about the movie, he's HILARIOUS! Warning, he does use some profanity.

Here is a free movie on YouTube from the 1940s starting Jimmy Stewart. Not a great movie, and have now way to know why YouTube recommended this movie, but was a decent watch. I likey watched under two movie a year, outside of Christmas classics with the family.

My son and daughter went together to see Backrooms and said they thought it was stupid. I don't go to the movies often, but my son and I went to see The Mandalorian and Grogu a couple weeks ago, and we had a good time.

Worst movie I ever saw in a theater was "Toys" with Robin Williams. Worse than anything else I've seen in a theater by a mile.

Great movie! Then again, I'm biased. My uncle is the son of the man that was imprisoned. So I know the 'true" story which the movie did a wonderful job with.

By today's standards, it moves slowly and well... Jimmy Stewart was a great actor. No superheros or explosions in this one. Just good dialog and so forth.

Wow, had no idea the movie was based on a true story. Thanks for sharing this.

Yes. 100% true. If that reporter had not taken an interest in the case.... well, THANK GOD he did! I don't want to give away too much of the plot... but as I've mentioned - The movie was very true to what really happened.

The title reminded me of the one-and-only time I went to a movie with my dear Mom.
Either "Finding Forester", with Sean Connery as a famous, withdrawing writer or "In the Bedroom", a boring tale set in a fishing village in Maine, was the film she wanted to see.

It was so early in the day, anyone could walk into any of the other 5 or 6 screens.
I was surprised that she didn't object to 'sneaking' into the second film.

Both were so bad, she called it "our punishment".

I find it's hard to get reliable assessments or even descriptions of films.
Once I tore a film apart and later my mother went to see it just to confirm my critique.
Nowadays, the admission ticket is so dear, one must be ready to feel philanthropic over entertained.
