I just put a set of Michelin Cup 2s on the E90

I've always been a Michelin guy so possibly a set of Pilot Sport All Season 4?

Also too, I put a set of Continental DWS 06 Plus on our Passat and have been very impressed. Very smooth and quiet, and decent grip considering they're all season tires.

I have them on my E90 for spring/summer/fall. All true, but soft wall is what I would say is let down. Feedback on the steering wheel is actually better with winter Blizzak WS90. True that Bridgestone has very strong construction, which results in less comfort but more feedback. It kind of brings Michelin as tires that just do all stuff really well.

For me at least, I find harsh riding, noisy tires unlivable - even if their performance is good.

For example, those Bridgestone RE-11s I mentioned earlier. Incredibly responsive with amazing grip. But, holy cow, were they noisy and harsh riding. Driving on those tires made me feel sorry for the car.

I have two sets of them. The new ones aren't made with the same offsets as mine, so in a way the ones I have are irreplaceable.

All true. Another thing with DWS is balancing. It takes several attempts to get them right.
As for walls, I just run 5psi over recommended.
On other hand, VikingContact7 is absolutely marvelous tire. No harshness, excessive noise, walls are dialed in, etc. Wonder about DWS if it is kind of cheaper thing for the US market only.

I put Vredestein Hypertrac All Season tires on my sons Toyota Matrix. These are also performance all seasons. So far very impressed. I was able to double up a $100 off coupon, 4 for $380 installed, no complaints.

Looks like people like them based on their Tirerack ratings and comments.

IMO, it's not the just the issue of whether or not the tire is suitable for the season. Every driver has their own expectations and preferences regarding what they like in a tire. If you liked the way those Vredestein tires worked on the Matrix, chances are you'll like them on the E90.

What a perfect example of an E90. Very envious that you are not only able to run that wheel and tire set up, but enjoy them on fun roads.

I'm looking at Conti DWS06+ for my E90 to replace aging Pzero AS+ tires. Unfortunately all seasons are better suited for our climate.

E90 Xdrive owner hailing from sunny Seattle wonders- what is the best high performance rain tire for an e90?

I run 17's & carry a spare.

I'm in rainy Seattle as well, and I find max performance summer rated tires better overall in rain than max performance all season rated tires.
Not in all cases, but typically you are giving up some wet and dry traction for that snow rating.
So I would recommend Michelin Pilot Sport 4S or Continental Extremecontact Sport 02 as two good examples of wet weather tires.

On my E39 540 M-Sport daily driver, I run 17" staggered Continental Extremecontact Sport 02 for several years now, after running two sets of Conti DWS, then two sets of Michelin Pilot Sport Allseason 4 (or the predecessor to them). On my 2018 M550iX I am running oem Michelin Pilot Super Sport.

If you must run all season, get the Michelin as they at least still have very good dry traction grip and handling traits.

IMO the Super Sports are a far better tire than the Pilot Sport 4 S's; better steering response and less tread squirm at the limit. The PS 4 S name was misleading to me because I thought it suggested "4 Season".

I know you know this @f355spider, but for the benefit of others, both are maximum performance summer tires. Based on my limited wet road experience both seemed decent in the rain (SS and 4S).

Been running Cup 2s on the E46 for 5 years now on a "square" set up with 235/35s on 19x8.5 BBS CHs with 35mm offset on all four corners.
