...and I know you're wanting pictures. I'll post them after I take 'em and figure out how to use my photobucket account. Here's what I cut open (divided into three groups according to size and then in alphabetical order within each group, except OEM first):

FL-1A size filters
Motorcraft FL-1A
Baldwin B2
Baldwin B2-HPG
Denso 150-1004
Donaldson P550008
Donaldson P169071

FL-299 size filters
Motorcraft FL-299
Baldwin BT251
Donaldson P550299
Fram PH977A
Wix 51773

Giganto size filter
Napa 1714/Wix 51714

At this point I haven't had time to carefully study each filter (I just got my filter-cutter-opener today

), but I will say this: one immediately stands out as being truly different from all the others and it appears to be obviously superior to the rest...

I'll let you guess which one it is!

Hopefully, that will keep us busy until the pics are posted... have fun!

I do hope you find time to measure media areas. Of course, that tells us nothing the quality of the media. Still, I find it hard to believe Fram uses such a super media that it is better than the AC with 3 times as much area.

Good work!
