i'd really like to see one cut open, and measurements. or any fl-1a size filter for that matter.

Paypal me the money and I'll buy it and break out the Dremel. 
i will cut some filters open eventually but it will be a while before my engine can accept a fl-1a.
i'm not being an [censored] but thats 5 years old and the filters must have changed since then.

I seriously doubt it. Here's are more recent photos of the same filter and it still appears to be the same. I have 2 vehicles that use this filter, so I'm up on the FL1A. Also, I know you're looking for photos of the racing filter version of the FL1A filter, but I've yet to see anyone cut one of those open and display it here or anywhere online for that matter.

ok, i believe you. like i said i will cut the filters i have open but it will be a while untill i cut a fl-1a variant filter open. i do have some (new)fl-820s, fl-400s, and super techs to cut open for now. i will share with all when i do.
