I took my kids 95 corolla to my buddy's dealership for one of their $9.99 oil change specials .It Comes to $12.61 with tax and they use bulk Valvoline with champ filters. We shot the [censored] while he worked on a couple cars , then he changed the oil, slipped in a can of b-g moa and did a drain and fill on the transmission for free. He always takes a flashlight and does an under body inspection too.
His only comment was," these fu***** corollas never break. How long you gonna keep this one." I also have a 93 he sold me 4 years ago. It has 275000 miles and this one has 195. The temperature outside was 15 this morning and it sure beat the heck out of me laying under the car. garage or not!

I think the $2 is to cover disposal fees ( baloney) and the .61 is for tax. Either way I can hardly buy the oil and filter for that, let alone a can of moa.

I bet for a non-buddy, that $9.99 oil change usually turns in to a quick $399.95 service which probably includes replacement of muffler bearings and putting new winter air in the tires.

$399 . Is that all . You should see what I see. The amount of warranty work is unbelievable. I can not further comment except in a p.m.

Just a friendly advice to anybody who is reading this; you have to be out of your mind to fall for any of the

"Cheap Oil Change"
"Free 100 point Inspection"

etc (unless you have inside line to the shop)

The only reason shop is doing it is to fleece you alive once you come in the door and your car is on the lift with few parts on the ground.

I feel sorry for the folks who are not car savy who get taken by the shop under these kind of deals but if you are BITOG member, I have no sympathy for you when the said shop robs you.

I had a coupon for a free oil change at the Ford dealer. Brought my 88 Mustang GT in. They didn't try to sell me additional work, in fact the only questionable thing they did is to put 5W20 in it, and then only because Ford has not recommended 5W20 for that engine. I really doubt the 5W20 hurt it...it didn't seem to use or leak any more oil than usual with the 5W20 in it.
