I got the thrill of a lifetime on Sunday morning, as I got to drive a Lamborghini Gallardo for a half an hour! There is a place near my house called Exotic Car Tours which mainly does all day events where you get to drive 5 or 6 different exotic cars for $600 but they recently have been offering up half hour test drives for just $150 so I jumped at the chance! I chose the Gallardo but my other choices were a Ferrari 360 Spyder, F430, Audi R8, Aston Martin Vantage, Corvette Z06 or Nissan GTR.

It was an amazing experience! Most fun I've ever had behind the wheel of a car! I did get the chance to go full throttle quite a few times and I've never been pushed back in my seat as hard as in this car! The car was an 08 model which makes about 520 horsepower in stock form but this one was slightly modified so it was making about 550 horsepower. They have two Gallardos to choose from, one was manual and the other auto, of course I chose the manual! I really miss driving a manual, and this one was so easy to drive! Even though it's been a few years since I owned a manual transmission car, I had no trouble driving this one whatsoever.

Here are a few pics of it:

There's a distant family member that is a broker for exotic cars and he says that car makes a sound unlike any other, like "singing." Your experience?

Pat repeat after me...

I LOVE my CORVETTE!

I LOVE my CORVETTE!

(trying to save you some serious coin man!!)

PS: Nice car and I'm sure very nice to drive. But remember that you LOVE your CORVETTE!

Wow, cool. I've thought of doing something like that. The only "exotic" car I've driven was a 911 SC, and it was a blast. That Lambo must be amazing.

That's something I want to do for sure! I'm waiting for that deal to be half price though

At full throttle the Gallardo sounds simply amazing! This one had an aftermarket exhaust as well so it was louder than most and really allowed me to hear the engine nicely. At one point during the drive I was going full throttle through the first three gears while going underneath the highway overpass so the sound that I heard was just pure music!

Menguia, You look Italian!

Yep, that's me in the purple shirt, my heritage is indeed part Italian (my dad's parents were both Italian, my mom's parents were Scottish)

I still love my Corvette a lot, but I have definitely been buying more lottery tickets this week and searching the Auto Trader for a suitable Gallardo in my area if I win!

^^^Nothing wrong with being prepared.

My son and I once went to the shop in Sarasota that puts twin turbo setups on Lambos. Got to joy ride the owners personal car. AWD with nearly 1000 whp was an amazing experience.

If you can afford it, why not? They have excellent resale and a surprisingly solid repair history.

Did you drive your Civic or Corvette to that event? What were you feeling when you sat back in your own car?

That would be a blast, and a very difficult choice. Too bad you can't to 10 minutes in 3 of your top picks.

I drove the Corvette there, as I did want to get a back to back comparison between the two and there was obviously a massive difference between the two! I still think the Corvette is a very fun car to own, but it's definitely in a different league than the exotic cars at this place.
