Hyundai ATF fluid

Just one question before I do a drain and refill on a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS.

Is Hyundai ATF 0232-19057 synthetic?

Not sure, I think its just a semi-syn. But you can use Valvoline Maxlife in that trans and its synthetic.


Actually that's the new SP4-M. It replaced the Hyundai IV fluid. So it might be a basic synthetic. But I still use maxlife in Hyundai's.

Don't shoot yourself in the foot, just use the Hyundai ATF.

I've used Valvoline Import Multi-Vehicle in a Kia with good results. It's fully synthetic.

Since my '10 Sonata doesn't have a serviceable transmission filter, I've sprung for AMSOIL Signature Series.

I'm using AMSOIL Signature Series ATF in one of my Sonatas and Maxlife ATF in the other one.

5 years later everything still working perfect in both Sonatas.

They (both Hyundai/Kia) updated from SP-IV to SP4-M a few years ago and this made the switch to a full synthetic OEM ATF. It is fully compatible with the older SP-IV ATF fluid. Since the drivetrain warranty is 100K miles, I'd just stick with the OEM fluid. When I did my drain/fill, the SP4-M was not out yet but the OEM ATF was like ~$9 quart at the local dealer.

Whatever you use, if you do the basic drain/fill every 30K miles or so, I'd think your golden.

I did also add a 3/8" Magnefine transmission filter (in-line) back at ~8K miles with good results thus far.
