The difference between Syn and Conventional is becoming razor thin as well as the difference between (some) store-brand and major brands. I have no-issue going with NAPA or Supertech. The only thing that the major brands have an edge on is the extended-interval oils. It is frog-hairs after that. The brands have better add-packs in some cases, but for most 5,000-10,000 OCI users, the engine will never know the difference (save for the higher-strung performance engines).
Heck, I have been using recycled "prison-oil" for years in my fleet. No oil-related engine failures there.
