Hybrid oil

I’ve used both. For me, Mobil 1 is easier to get, it’s available in a store, not Valvolineoline.

I got Valvolineoline with a small discount from when Advanced auto closed shop in California.

I like Valvolineoline because it has a slightly higher KV100 cSt than Mobil 1. But once I’ve used up Valvolineoline, I have no issues going back to Mobil 1 or Valvolineoline Restore and Protect for that matter.

This is an older picture. No more Mobil 1, 4 bottles Valvoline left.

My wife just traded for a hybrid camry. I planned on bumping up to 0w20 after 3 rounds of Valvoline Restore and Protect 0w16 (it was slightly used). Either ultra platinum or ESP 0w20. I would go 0w30 esp but im not sure if that wise given that it specs for 0w8.

If Valvoline Restore and Protect is good enough for “three rounds” I would posit that it will serve you well in the 0w-20 flavor going forward.

There’s nothing wrong with the other two oils you mentioned. But, Valvoline Restore and Protect is a proven performer, especially in vehicles with low tension piston rings.

Haven't seen a used oil analysis for the Valvoline yet, but the VOA someone posted a couple weeks ago looked very stout. Right around KV100 of 9 and HTHS of 2.78. You'd be very hard pressed to shear or dilute that out of grade even on an extended OCI.
You can't make any of those conclusion from a VOA.

You can easily run a 30 grade oil in that car. Here's someone running Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30 in a Camry calling for 0W-16. Great plan to run 3-4 rounds of Valvoline Restore and Protect to clean it up since you bought used.
