Hello all,
this is a first post for me but long time reader.
I just recently purchased a 2024 Toyota RAV4 hybrid limited and I have a few questions on oil types, specifically the mobile one brand.
I see that mobile one brand makes the 0w16 for hybrid engines and a 0w20 for hybrid engines with dextros.
Both have the seal that is manufacturer approved, and they both seem popular for the hybrid engine. Is the dextros okay to use in this type of engine.
I do my own oil changes and would like just to be able to put the same oil in and change frequently since I live in a hot climate and do a lot of short drives and have already noticed fuel dilution smell.
Any thoughts on what other people are using for their new hybrid engines. Thanks in advance.

A good choice would be Mobil 1 0W30 ESP in the 5 quart jug at Walmart.

If your choice is strictly 0W16, Mobil 1 or Pennzoil Platinum are no brainers.
there are other brands that do just as well also, use your instincts and of course read some some of the previous threads as they can and some not be constructively informative,Wallmart is a good source to shop for oil and filters, along with auto part places.or order on line like Amsoil,Torco,HPL,etc, oil change out intervals are probably the most important, though some brands do better in this area of extended oci times, and the filter quality/efficiency should be considered too, there are some rather interesting filter and oil testing with good results in spite of just many opinions and brand loyalty.

I guess the long story short as I have already purchased these two types of synthetic. They are from the same manufacturer mobile1.
I'm just looking for in a census on; Are they both okay to use?
And which one would be the preferred for going forward in my oil changes. Also one has this stuff called dexos1 in it. Thanks in advance

If you really care for API certification, look for ILSAC GF-6B. That's what Toyota 0W-16 is. Your engine won't explode if you use 0W-20 (ILSAC GF-6A). I ran that in my wife's 2023 RAV4 last oil change.
I just attached a couple of pics to my post showing the two types of oil I purchased. One is a gf6a and the other is a 6B. I would like to use them both and then move forward with the 0w20. I did read somewhere where the dexos one has some good properties in it for anti-knock direct injection.

"........I live in a hot climate and do a lot of short drives and have already noticed fuel dilution smell."

Personally, based on the above I would use the Mobil(e) 0w-20.

I would also suggest waiting until your second or third OCI to have a UOA performed to check for fuel dilution. And use a lab that will
run an accurate test for fuel dilution and not just guess based on the flashpoint.

Lastly, if you have the 0w-16 on hand you might as well use it. It's spec'd for your engine and won't hurt a thing.

Like Kalle.J said. I'd add Castrol Edge Professional Longlife III 0W-30 and Ravenol VMP 5W-30. Both are thick, don't be fooled by their winter grade, they have outstanding cold-start capabilities as well.

Dexos is a somewhat more demanding spec in some ways so no reason not to use it.
I'd use either flavor of the M1 you inserted an image of.
I'd also doubt that Toyota would recommend a 0W-16 grade if they though it might imperil their bread and butter four cylinder engine.

Thanks all!
! I just got through reading enough information on dextrose 1 to give me a proverbial headache. Yes it does appear this was a GM product that was put into place because of the design of their engines with direct injection and cylinder timing. I guess this oil has special attitudes to reduce the carbon deposits and knocking from the cylinders not firing for their GM design.
I know Toyota specs 0w16 So perhaps I will just go with m1 0w20 full synthetic and be done with it.
Confusion solved. Thanks all very much for your input.
